Is there any money in saving the environment?

We have found that the best way to educate people regarding the importance and the impact of recycling is to make the argument one about dollars and cents. Simply put, your scrap has value and depending on how much you have, a big pay day could be on the horizon.

There are other upsides to recycling your scrap as well. After all, if you've got a lot of scrap at your property, why not get paid to move some of it and make your place look a little nicer?

How does the process work?

Recycled soda cans Cubed non-ferrous scraps

There's truly no easier way to get cash for your scrap than to bring it

to us at Didion Orf Recycling.

When you arrive, we'll send you to a zone based on the scrap you are recycling. One of our staff members will greet you and unload your material. We pay you depending on the weight of your scrap, so we'll weigh your material on a scale, and pay you for it. It's really as simple as that.

Where are you located?

Our lot, it's certifiably huge at 11.5 acres, is located just north of Interstate 70 off of Mid Rivers Mall Dr. in St. Peters, MO.  We also  have a location off of the outer road of Interstate 44 in St. James, MO.

What are your hours?

We are open:

Monday - Friday from 7:30am to 4:15pm.  Also Saturdays from 8:00am to 11:45am.

Is there a weight limit on material before you pay for it?

The only materials for which we have a weight limit are ferrous items (steel -magnetic). In order to get paid, you need to have over 300 LBS. However, if your first load does not exceed that amount, we can hold your ticket for the day so that you can get some more material. Your ticket is to be cashed out before the close of business on the day the material is brought in.

Yes we do! Any steel appliances, like a washer and dryer or dishwasher can be recycled with us. However, Didion Orf Recycling will NOT accept any refrigerators with compressors still intact. We will buy the compressor separately, but it needs to be detached from the unit before we can accept it.

Do you accept old appliances for recycling?

What do I need to do before bringing in my old car?

We recquire that all fluids are drained and there has to be a whole in the gas tank. We also require a title for the vehicle so that we can verify the VIN number.

Do you buy scrap catalytic converters?

Yes we do! We are becoming very competitive in this market, so if you have one, please give us a call or bring it in. All we need to know is the make, model, and year of the vehicle that it came from. You can expect an honest, fair quote from one of our converter buyers.

How do I know what kind of metal I have?

Most of the time, we can give you an idea of what type of metal you have as long as you know where the item came from. For example, extension cords are purchased as #2 insulated copper wire.

One of our lifelines here is the magnet test; if you have a magnet, use it on your material. This helps us narrow it down to two categories. If the magnet sticks, then you have ferrous material (steel); if it does not stick, then you have non-ferrous material (such as aluminum). From there we can help you to distinguish between types of non-ferrous or ferrous material.

What electronics do you recycle?

We recycle most types of electronics. There are many items that we will pay you to bring in. These include computer towers, laptops, cell phones, ect.

Some items we take as just a free drop off, such as keyboards, printers, old stereo equipment, etc.

There are also items we charge a small fee to recycle. These item include CRT computer monitors, tube or projection TVs, and microwaves. You can refer to the electronic page for more detail on these.

Do you have a coupon?

We have coupons for an extra $0.05/pound on all non-ferrous materials that are located in, advertisements, directories, and phone books all over the area. You can also find coupons on our Facebook page, there is a link at the top of this website.  Each customer is limited to one coupon per visit.
